Army Athletics Celebrate 2022-23 Success at Annual Black Knight Awards, presented by USAA

WEST POINT, N.Y – Army West Point Athletics hosted its 16th Annual Black Knight Awards presented by USAA this past Friday. In total 19 awards were presented highlighted by Men's and Women's Athlete of the Year, Performance of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Team of the Year.
Team of the Year: Men's Lacrosse
The Army West Point men's lacrosse team had a historic 2023 season. They picked up three top-10 wins on the way to their first NCAA Tournament win since 2010 when they upset the defending national champions, Maryland.
Head Coach Joe Alberici, who was in his 18th season, led a team that was picked fourth in the preseason Patriot League to a co-regular season title and a Patriot League Conference Tournament Championship with a 13-4 overall record and a 7-1 conference record.
The team ranked as high as No. 6 in the country and went on a nine-game win streak which was the longest since 2017.
Goalie Knox Dent was one of the best goalies in the country, ranking sixth in goals-against average and 14th in save percentage. The Colorado native brought home Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year honors. He put on a show in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, making 16 saves, leading Army to its first tournament win since 2010 over No. 4 Maryland.
Men's Athlete of the Year: Kevin Dubrule, Baseball
Senior Kevin Dubrule took home the Men's Athlete of the Year after a monster season, batting .405 with nine HRs, 19 2Bs, 68 RBIs and 52 runs scored. Army's shortstop also took home Patriot League Player and Defensive Player of the Year, Patriot League Tournament MVP, was named a finalist for the Brooks Wallace Award, and was named to the Collegiate Baseball Third Team All-American Team. He also took home the Army Athletic Association (AAA) Award, which is awarded annually to the male and female cadet-athletes who display the "most valuable service to intercollegiate athletics during a career as a cadet."
Women's Athlete of the Year: Brigid Duffy, Women's Soccer & Lacrosse
Two-sport standout Plebe Brigid Duffy was the recipient of the Women's Athlete of the Year Award. Duffy, who starred in lacrosse and soccer set numerous of records during her first season with lacrosse. She became the First All-American in program history, as well as making the USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American Second Team and ILWomen All-American Third Team. She won Patriot League Rookie of the Year and was All-Patriot League first team selection in the midfield. She was a five-time Patriot League Rookie of the Week and she set a single-season program record with 82 points. In soccer, she appeared in 20 matches, starting one as a true freshman, scoring her first career goal against Wagner and later registering back-to-back goals against Boston University and Lehigh. Duffy was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week in soccer as well, and had a standout performance against Navy delivering the game-winning assist.
Men's Performance of the Year: Owen Harlow, Men's Swimming & Diving vs. Navy
Army's Owen Harlow helped lead Army men's swim and dive to its first victory over Navy since 1990, when he won the 50 free with a time of 19.43, breaking the Academy record). He also won the 100 free (43.19), breaking both the Academy record (as well as breaking the Patriot League record. The men won in exciting fashion as cadet-athletes Tanner Falls, Will Rankin, Owen Harlow, and Jacob Powell won the 400 Free Relay, edging past the Midshipmen by four-hundredths of a second with a time of 2:54.68 on December 3.
Women's Performance of the Year: Allison Reilly, Women's Lacrosse vs. Navy
Plebe Allison Reilly delivered an all-time performance for the Black Knights in the star-series against Navy, setting new single-game program records with nine goals scored and 12 points altogether with her three assists helping the Black Knights defeat archrival Navy by a score of 15-11 on April 27.
