Hockey Announces 2023-24 Slate

WEST POINT, NY - Army West Point hockey and head coach Brian Riley have announced the full 2023-24 schedule on Thursday.
The slate features 35 games in total, including four matchups with service-academy rival Air Force. Army will hit the road early to compete in the annual Ice Breaker Tournament, taking on a pair of powerhouses in North Dakota and Bemidji State on Oct. 13-14. The schedule also features a return to West Point for the Royal Military College of Canada, renewing the rivalry following a three-year hiatus.

Army opens the season at home against Union College for the second consecutive year, with a Sunday contest on October 8th. The Black Knights will then head west for the Ice Breaker Tournament, taking on North Dakota for the second time in program history and Bemidji State for the fifth time. The Atlantic Hockey schedule kicks off later in the month, with road matchups at AIC (Oct. 28) and Sacred Heart (Oct. 31).
The Black Knights play their first home conference games on Nov. 3-4, hosting RIT at Tate Rink. The following weekend, Army will head to Colorado for a two-game series against Air Force on Nov. 10-11. Returning home, the Atlantic Hockey stretch continues with a home series against Canisius on Nov. 17-18 and a midweek road matchup at Holy Cross on Nov. 21.
Thanksgiving weekend sees a pair of road non-conference matchups, with Army heading up to Massachusetts to take on Merrimack (Nov. 24) and UMass-Lowell (Nov. 25). Following an off-week, the first half of the season will once again conclude on the road at Mercyhurst, with a pair of games slated for Dec. 8 and Dec. 9.
Army will return from the 20-day break at home on Dec. 29, with another Hockey East opponent in New Hampshire. Bentley then comes to town on Tuesday, Jan. 2 for the first matchup of 2024. The Black Knights then head to Penn State on Jan. 6 for Army's lone Big Ten-matchup of the season, before traveling to Sacred Heart on Tuesday, Jan. 9.
A six-game homestand at Tate Rink begins on Jan. 12, as Army hosts Holy Cross for a pair of games on the 12th and 13th. Sacred Heart then makes the trip to West Point on Tuesday, Jan. 16, for the third and final game between the Black Knights and Pioneers. Air Force then completes the home-and-home with a trip to Tate Rink, with a pair of service-academy matchups set for Jan. 19-20. Jan. 27 then sees the Royal Military College of Canada return to West Point for the first time in four seasons for another chapter in the storied exhibition series.
Army's final non-conference matchup comes in the form of Princeton, as the Black Knights will make the trip south on Tuesday, Jan. 30. The Cadets will stay on the road the next weekend, taking on Bentley on Feb. 2-3 for another Atlantic Hockey series to begin the month. Robert Morris returns to West Point in its first season back in Atlantic Hockey, with a series on Feb. 9-10 at Tate Rink. Army then heads to Niagara for its lone series with the Purple Eagles on Feb. 16-17. The regular season concludes on Feb. 24-25, as Army hosts AIC for a pair of games ahead of the Atlantic Hockey Tournament.
The battle for the Jack Riley Memorial Trophy will play out on AHA campuses over four weekends in March with all 11 AHA teams competing for a berth in the single-game Atlantic Hockey Championship. The 2024 Atlantic Hockey Postseason will open with single-game first round match-ups with the No. 6, No. 7 and No. 8 seeds hosting the No. 11, No. 10 and No. 9 seeds, respectively, on March 2.
Best-of-three quarterfinal series March 8-10 with the No. 1 seed hosting the lowest remaining seed, the No. 2 seed hosting the second-lowest remaining seed, the No. 3 seed hosting the third-lowest remaining seed and the No. 4 seed hosting the No. 5 seed. Semifinal best-of-three series will take place March 15-17 with the highest-seeded quarterfinal winner hosting the lowest-seeded quarterfinal winner and the second-highest remaining seed hosting the third-highest remaining seed.
The AHA Postseason will conclude March 23 when the two semifinal winners meet at the home of the highest-seeded semifinal winner for one game to determine Atlantic Hockey's 2024 postseason champion.
