Ruggieri, Berg, Dubrule, and Golinski Named to ABCA/Rawlings Northeast All-Region Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Army West Point baseball team sees four players receive All-Region honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings announced on Tuesday. Juniors Mike Ruggieri, Derek Berg, Braden Golinski, and senior Kevin Dubrule each received spots.
Ruggieri, a First Team All-Patriot League member was named to the Northeast All-Region First Team while Berg, Dubrule, and Golinski earned Second Team honors.
This marks the first time in program history that the Black Knights have received four all-region selections (three, Chris Rowley (First Team), Kevin McKague (Second Team), and J.T. Watkins (Second Team, 2012).
Junior Mike Ruggieri had a dominant 2023 season in the starting rotation starting for the Black Knights. The starter turned in a 3.44 ERA through 73.1 innings on the mound and fanned 61 batters. Ruggieri held batters to a .230 batting average and recorded a season-high seven strikeouts against Lehigh on April 8.
Derek Berg was a force behind the backstop this season. He was named First Team All-Patriot League, led the Patriot League in runs (66), and was also third in the Patriot League in hits (72). In the program, Berg was tied for fourth with 15 doubles and was tied for second in triples with three this season.
The Conroe, Texas native also helped Army's pitching staff post a Patriot League-best earned run average (4.11 ERA) and threw out a league second-best 16 runners attempting to steal. Berg had a .312 avg., 15 doubles, three triples, 12 home runs, 44 RBIs, .558 slg%, and a .392 ob%.
Senior Kevin Dubrule dominated the infield. He was named Patriot League Player and Defensive Player of the Year; the first time in program history a player has received both awards and earned Patriot League First Team honors. Dubrule was also named Patriot League Tournament MVP, named a finalist for the Brooks Wallace Award, and was named to the Collegiate Baseball Third Team All-American Team.
The Venice, Fla. native finished the season ranked fifth in the nation in toughest to strikeout (18.9), 15th in the country in batting average (.405), as well as 21st in the nation in hits (92), and 28th in sacrifice flies (7). Dubrule led the Patriot League in runs batted in (68), hits (92), sacrifice flies (7), and batting average (.405). Dubrulee finished the season with 19 doubles, a triple, nine home runs, 52 runs, a .617 slg%, and a .454 ob%
Returning outfielder Braden Golinski had a successful 2023 season. Golinski was named First Team All-Patriot League and was named to the Patriot League All-Tournament Team. He led the league in stolen bases (17). Golinski finished the year with a .325 avg., .558 slg%, and a .393 ob%. The Greenville, S.C. native also had 16 doubles, three triples, 13 home runs, and 52 RBIs.
As a First Team selection, Mike Ruggieri will be on the ballot for the ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors. The All-America Teams will be announced the morning of Friday, June 16 prior to the start of the 2023 NCAA Div. I College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.

Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include nine divisions: NCAA Division I, II, and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School, Youth, and Travel.
