Men's Tennis Goes 1-1 at Universal Tennis NIT Championships

ATLANTA, GA - Army West Point men's tennis competed at the inaugural Universal Tennis NIT Championship this past weekend in Atlanta, splitting its two matchups with UC Davis and Reinhardt University.

Army matched up with UC Davis in the quarterfinals on Thursday morning. The Black Knights got out to a good start, taking the doubles point over the Aggies. Jake Huarte and Marcus Sebastian won their singles match on court three (6-4) before A.J. Woodman and Samuel Eden secured the doubles point for Army with a tiebreak win on court one.

Army was unable to to pick up a win on the singles courts, with UC Davis eventually taking the match by a score of 4-1 to advance to the semifinals. Army matched up with Reinhardt University on Friday morning in a consolation match. The Black Knights made good on the doubles point once again, with Paul Roberts and Jack Hanna cruising to a (6-1) victory on court three. Samuel Haikal and Vishnu Bodavula then ensured the doubles point for Army with a 6-3 triumph on court two.

Moving to singles, Roberts made quick work court six, getting Army out to a 2-0 lead with a (6-3, 6-3) victory. Jack Hanna then made it a 3-0 advantage for the Black Knights with his (6-3, 6-3) victory on court five. After the Eagles fought back with a point to make it 3-1, Army was able to see out an eventual 4-1 win with a (6-4, 6-2) victory on court four from Daniel Choi. The Black Knights conclude the 2023 season with the win and post a 20-13 overall record.
