Ashton White Named Patriot League Rookie of the Week

BETHLEHEM, PA - Army West Point softball freshman Ashton White has been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week, announced today by the league.Â
White helped Army to a sweep over Holy Cross over the weekend, to being Patriot League play and the home campaign with a 3-0 start. The Dothan, Alabama native has recorded ten hits across her past eight contests in an impressive start to her collegiate career.
She collected seven RBI altogether in the series to lead the Black Knights, logging a hit in each contest. In game one, White had a pair of base hits including a two-run double which gave Army some insurance on its way to an 8-3 victory. Returning for game two of the series on Sunday, White matched a season-high for any Black Knight with four RBI. She gave Army an early 1-0 lead with a sacrifice fly in the first inning, before lacing a three-run double in the second inning to break the game open as Army cruised to an 8-0 win. White added added another hit and RBI in the final game of the series as Army outscored the Crusaders 25-9 in the three-game set.
Army returns to the diamond on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. for a road contest at Hofstra.
