"Spring weather in the Northeast can be unpredictable but today it was sunny and relatively warm. We got lucky for a Saturday in mid March. We brought a mix of developmental people and some key performers and had some nice improvements and strong performances. We brought all of our throwers to the meet and by and large they did a nice job. The star of the day and our only field event winner today was Chris Barrett in the javelin. Chris cemented the sweep of both men's and women's javelin today on his first throw of the competition. That 68 meter throw was easily the winner today but Chris took it up a notch on his sixth and final throw and bombed it 69.32 meters (227' 5"). He has a quiet unassuming presence that belies a savage competitive fire within. When he stands at the top of the runway with a javelin in his hand, he is at once commanding and ready to explode. He bookended the two best throws of the meet today and while he has thrown just a little bit further in his life, he is poised to throw farther as we near the championship season. Our only other win today came from Mitchell Burr in the 800. We have put him through some good loading over the past few weeks and he has handled it very well. Today was more about putting him out there to test himself than any sort of focus on a time or result. We had some other nice performances from some young developmental athletes and overall I thought we did well today.
