Baseball Defeats South Florida 6-1 in Game Three

Tampa, Fla.– The Army West Point baseball team (7-10, 0-0 PL) defeated the University of South Florida Bulls (8-13, 0-0, American) 6-1 in Game 3 Sunday afternoon. Army's Kevin Dubrule went 2-4, having two RBIs, one run, and a stolen base.
How it Happened
Senior Kevin Dubrule scored the go ahead run, giving the Black Knights their first lead of the afternoon.
In the bottom of the first inning, the Bulls threatened Army starter Mike Ruggieri with a two outs, bases loaded situation. Ruggieri got out of the inning with a strikeout.

Army attacked South Florida in the top of the second, after Addison Ainsworth ripped a single to right field. With two outs, Ainsworth advanced to second with an error by catcher Ben Rozenblum. The Bulls got out of the inning with a pop up to first base.
In the bottom of the second, South Florida got on the board first with Rozenblum scoring on a sacrifice fly, making it a 1-0 game.
In the top of the fifth, Army offense came alive against the Bulls starter Jack Cebert with Ethan Ellis reaching first on a throwing error by South Florida's Eric Snow. The Black Knights put a runner in scoring position after Bret Copeland hit a single to left center, leaving runners on first and second. Ross Friedrick ripped an RBI single to left field, sending Ellis home to score, making it a 1-1 game.

With runners on first and second, Kevin Dubrule hit an RBI single to center field, sending Copeland home to score, giving Army a 2-1 lead.
South Florida attempted to take back the lead, with runners on first and second. With two outs, the Bulls Travis Sankovich hit a single to shortstop, loading the bases. Ruggieri got out of the inning with a strike out.

Sean Dennehy came in to relieve Mike Ruggieri.
In the top of the seventh inning, relief pitcher Nolan Hudi came in for Cebert. Army's bats came alive when Derek Berg smacked a solo home run to left field, giving the Black Knights a 3-1 lead.

After the Bulls' walked Sam Ruta, Army's Ross Friedrick then hit a double to right field, advancing Ruta to third, putting runners in scoring position. Dubrule gave the Black Knights a 4-1 lead after singling to third base, bringing Ruta across the plate. Army added two more runs when Braden Golinski reached first on an error by Snow, but then was called out on second.
South Florida threatened to cut into the Black Knights lead in the bottom of the ninth inning. With one out, Ben Rozenblum was hit by a pitch, and Pablo Ruiz walked, putting two runners on base. Army got out of the inning with a double play.
