Gymnastics Posts Two Season-Highs While Taking Down William & Mary in Tri-Meet with Cal

BERKELEY, Calif. – The Army West Point gymnastics team placed second in a triangular hosted by California at Haas Pavilion Saturday evening. The Golden Bears turned in a season high 399.35 in topping the Black Knights score of 390.15 along with William & Mary's 384.20.
Black Knight Zachary Perez turned in an impressive performance on high bar with his winning performance of 13.20 in denying California the individual winner in all six events. Johnathan Pinc was second on vault, tying his career high 14.6 which led all Army scores on the day. Corban Barstow tied for third in and set a personal best with a 14.15 and John Wear turned in a career-high 14.05 rounding out Army's leaders on vault.
Overall, four Army gymnasts set personal bests helping the team record season highs on floor exercise (67.45) and vault (70.6). The Black Knights were first in two of the six team events – vault and high bar (62.9) - while placing second on floor exercise, pommel horse (61.65) and still rings (64.25).
Joseph Buselmeier set a personal best 13.75, turning in Army's top mark on floor exercise followed by Jacob Nauman's 13.7, with Barstow and Kalvin Kingshill posting identical 13.50s. Nauman's score was just shy of his career-best while Kinghill's was a personal best and Barstow's was a season high. Buselmeier also took third on parallel bars (13.5).
