Baseball Installs New Turf Field at Doubleday Field

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point baseball team has installed a new turf playing surface at Doubleday Field ahead of the 2023 season.
"From the day we said we were getting it until now where we can actually play on it, it is pretty neat. A lot of work went into it by Mike Buddie, Dan McCarthy, and Mike Rubino and I think it came out really well." – Head Coach Chris Tracz
The field was constructed by Clark Companies in Delhi, N.Y. and completed in early January. Clark Companies has also completed turf fields for Cornell, Dartmouth, Binghamton and more.
The FieldTurf covers the entire playing surface which includes the infield, outfield, batter's boxes and the pitching mound. In center field, the Army block "A" insignia logo is featured.
With the FieldTurf, Army baseball should expect fewer game cancellations and delays due to inclement weather.
Army is also unveiling an improved expanded dugout for the 2023 season.
The Black Knights kick off their season with a three-game series vs. Air Force in the Liberty Classic in Cleburne, Texas February 17-19. Army's home opener in which they will debut its new playing surface will on Tuesday, March 15 at 3 p.m vs. Albany.
