Max Itagaki Earns Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week

WINTHROP, MA - Army West Point freshman Max Itagaki was named Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week for the third time this season, announced today by the league.
Itagaki helped Army earn a split with Mercyhurst, logging five points across the weekend. Itagaki began on Friday night with an assist in regulation, before burying the game-winning goal in overtime for this third tally of the season. Returning on Saturday, Itagaki registered three assists with two coming on the power-play. Involved in five of Army's six goals on the weekend, the three-point night marked a new career high for the freshman,
The native of Glenview, Ill., climbed up the Atlantic Hockey points leaderboard following the weekend, now ranking second in the conference in points with 31. Itagaki ranks fourth in the country among freshmen with 28 assists which also leads all of Atlantic Hockey in helpers.Â
Itagaki and the Black Knights will wrap up the 2023 regular season this weekend with a two-game set at Bentley (Feb. 24-25).
