Men's Tennis Splits Weekend with Marist & St. John's

WEST POINT, NY - Army West Point men's tennis (6-4, 1-0 PL) took down Marist (0-5, 0-0 MAAC) by a score of 4-0 on Sunday morning at Lichtenberg Tennis Center, before falling to St. John's (7-1, 0-0 BE) in a highly contested 4-3 match.
Army started the weekend on the right foot, claiming the doubles point against the Red Foxes. Vishnu Bodavula and Samuel Haikal collected a a 6-0 victory on court one, while Paul Roberts and Michael Zhang dropped just one game on court two to secure the point for Army.
Marcus Sebastian grabbed the first singles point for Army, with a straight set victory in just under an hour. Haikal made no mistake in his singles match on court four, winning both sets 6-4.The Black Knights were able to wrap up the shutout victory soon after, with Jack Hanna claiming a two-set victory over Marist's Paolo Flores.
Returning against St. John's, Army was once again able to claim the doubles point through a pair of victories on court one and two. A.J. Woodman and Thomas Lake were able to get a break and win 6-4, while Jake Huarte and Nathan Jose clutched up on court two, winning the tie-breaking set 8-6 to secure a 1-0 lead for Army.
Woodman battled on court one in singles, winning both of his sets by a score of 7-5 with a late break. Bodavula continued his stellar singles play with a straight set-victory on court four over the Johnnies' Anton Stendal. However, St. John's was able to claim four of the singles matches, with Nathan Jose's matchup against Ryota Kaneda being the only singles matchup to go three sets.
