FULL RESULTS
Migault placed fourth in the 200 breast, with her time of 2:10.86 in the prelims seeing a new career-best and all-time best for the Academy.
"This is one of my favorite meets that we do all year. There is nothing more exciting to me than to be able to get up and race some of the best teams and swimmers in the NCAA. There is so much to learn and so much to gain from racing these teams in this kind of environment. It's a great opportunity to see all of our hard work throughout the season pay off before we head into our taper for the Army vs Navy dual meet." commented Migault following the meet.
Sophomore Layne Peterson continued to improve her mark in the 200 back, logging a time of 1:56.13 to set the new program standard. Continuing with standout underclassmen performances, Avery Lord tabbed her new career-best with a 2:01.59 in the event as well.
Clara Williams then set a new season-low and Patriot League-leading time of 50.56 in the 100 free to pace Army in the event. Melinda Zhang narrowly improved on her season-best in the 200 fly, placing 12th behind a time of 2:00.29). Molly Webber then posted a 2:00.59 mark, making Zhang and Webber one-two in the Patriot League rankings this season.
Owen Harlow led the Black Knights in the 100 free with a 20th-place finish and a time of 44.14. Thomas Hadji followed up in 21st with a 44.36 mark which moved him into the top-10 in program history with the new career-best mark.
The 200 breast also saw an addition to the top-10, as Joey Kling recorded a 1:59.00 to put him ninth all-time for the program as he landed in 11th-place for the meet. Kohen Rankin continued to pace Army in the event, posting an eight-place finish behind a time of 1:56.64.
Army made its mark in the 200 fly, with Nathan Jao smashing his previous career-best with a 1:47.70 mark in the finals. Jao placed fifth with his time now leading the conference this season. Jackson Pogue (1:47.93) and Jack Mowery (1:48.12) went on to finish 1-2 in the B finals while each logging season-low times in the event.
Alex Edwards and Sam Wesley each improved on their season-bests in the 200 back, with Edwards placing 11th with a time of 1:46.08 as Wesley was just behind in 12th with a 1:47.21 mark. In the 1650, Army had a strong showing with Ian Tansill (15:13.82) and Brice Barrieault (15:17.72) placing seventh and eighth, respectively.
"This year's NC State Invite was our best demonstration since our debut a few years ago. We showed up and  fought our way till the end. We are leaving this meet proud and excited for what's next. Huge thanks to our dedicated parents and fans who showed their uncanny support for the Army team in North Carolina." said Owen Harlow on the meet.
Head Coach Brandt Nigro at the conclusion of the weekend:
"Our team closed out the meet well. We continued to match and improve upon our swims from a few weeks ago at home. Each event was highlight by great performances from the 1650 to the 200 fly, we even challenged the team to finish strong with multiple relays and they stepped up. Shoutout to Layne Peterson & Aurelie Migault for lowering their own 200 Back & 200 Breast Academy Records. Also, congrats to our men on beating Duke for the first time in our 3 years here."
