Mens Soccer Closes Out Season With 2-0 Loss to BU

West Point, NY – Army men's soccer closed out their season at home with a 2-0 loss against the Boston University Terriers.
How it Happened
The Black Knights got the first shot away just 30 seconds into the game as freshman midfielder Colin McCarthy sent a shot wide right. Boston University answered by getting away five shots of their own, with two getting on goal, but Army keeper Keanu Likewise was able to make easy work of those. The Terriers struck at the 15th-minute mark as senior midfielder Andrew Rent netted his third goal of the year off an assist from graduate student Quinn Matulis.
Army came out aggressive after the goal with Eric Lusskin getting a good shot attempt on goal forcing BU keeper Francesco Montali to make a stop. Defender Nick Atkinson and leading goal scorer Gage Lyons would get the last two scoring chances in the 43rd minute for Army. The back line would hold strong fending off all five Terrier shots to end the first half.
The Black Knights got the first three shots coming into the second with Lyons getting it on net in the 53rd minute. Army defender D'Anthony Brown would get a great scoring opportunity out front but sent it just high over the crossbar. Both teams would trade chances and hold tight on defense until the second and final goal of the game was scored in the 67th minute from Boston University sophomore Alex Bonnington with an assist from the first goal scorer Andrew Rent.
Army ended the game with 12 shots, three on goal while Keanu Likewise made five saves on the seven shots he faced. The Black Knights will return to action in the 2024 season.
