Back-To-Back: Hunter and Ericson Win Patriot League Honors For Second Straight Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Army West Point Women's Basketball Senior Sabria Hunter was named the Patriot League GEICO Player of the Week and freshman Reese Ericson was named the Patriot League GEICO Rookie of the Week, marking back-to-back weeks that both have won these awards, announced today by the league.
Last week (1/23-1/30), Army Women's Basketball went 2-0 extending its win streak to four games with victories over American University and Holy Cross, led by big performances from Hunter and Ericson.
This is Hunter's second time winning Player of the Week, taking home the honors last week on January 23.
In the two wins, Hunter averaged 17.5 points and 13.5 rebounds. Hunter posted 18 points and 14 boards to take down American on Wednesday (1/25), before a 17-point, 13-rebound effort on the road at Holy Cross on Saturday (1/28). Hunter has now logged a double-double in seven straight contests and her 14 total on the season is tied for fifth most in the NCAA.
A native of Austintown, Ohio, Hunter is averaging a double-double this season, registering 13.9 points and 12.0 rebounds per game while shooting .559% from the field (104-186). Her average of 12.0 rebounds per game is fifth most in the country.
This marks Ericson's third time winning Rookie of the Week this season as she also took home the honors on January 3 and January 21. Her three Rookie of the Week's is second best in the Patriot League behind Navy's Maren Louridas (4).
Ericson began her week scoring nine points, grabbing three rebounds and dishing three assists in a win over American on Wednesday (1/25). Ericson then erupted for 18 points in a big road win over Holy Cross on Saturday (1/28). Ericson took over in the fourth quarter, scoring 10 of her 18 points. Ericson drained two jumpers to help Army maintain the lead and was a clutch 6-6 from the foul line in the final minutes of the game.
In her last three games, Ericson is averaging 17.0 points, shooting .46% (17-37) from the field.
Earlier this month, Ericson was instrumental in Army's victory over Navy logging a career-high 24 points, which was tied for the most in a game by an Army freshman since 2009-10.
She also logged a career high 10 assists in a win at American on January 11.
A native of Lake Oswego, Oregon, Ericson is averaging 9.4 points, shooting .413 from the field (66-1160) and .324% from three-point (23-71) and is also averaging 3.2 assists per game.
Sabria Hunter is the first Army women's player to win consecutive Player of the Week awards since Madison Hovren on Nov. 27 & Dec. 4, 2017. Reese Ericson is the first with repeat Rookie of the Week honors since Kelsey Minato won 4-straight from Jan. 14 to Feb. 4, 2013.
