WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point Director of Athletics Mike Buddie has named another veteran college athletics administrator to his staff in the hiring of Tricia Brandenburg as Executive Associate Athletics Director.
"Tricia is a seasoned professional that will bring immediate value to our executive staff," said Buddie. "She brings extensive experience in all facets of athletics department operations. Her leadership and experience at Towson, Ohio University, UMass-Amherst and Northeastern will be a great asset to our department and the Academy."
As the Executive Associate Athletics Director, Brandenburg will be a member of the Athletics Director's Senior Leadership Team and Executive Staff, supervise several sports and oversee the areas of Sports Medicine, Strength & Conditioning, and Nutrition. In her role, Brandenburg will also collaborate with the Academy's Center for Enhanced Performance and the SHARP Office (Sexual Harassment & Response Prevention).
Brandenburg arrives to Army West Point with over 20 years of college athletics experience at the NCAA Division I level. For the past 10 years, Brandenburg has served as the Deputy Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator at Towson University. During her stint at Towson, she also served as the Interim Director of Athletics.
At Towson, she developed and implemented a model for a sports performance team to improve the health care for student-athletes and reduce the time lost due to injury. She also initiated collaborative sport performance planning across high-performance areas while leading the Total Tiger Wellness program.
"Army West Point is such a unique and incredible place, and I am thrilled to be joining the amazing Army West Point Athletics Department," said Brandenburg. "I am grateful to Mike Buddie for the opportunity and privilege to serve the over 1,000 cadet-athletes at the United States Military Academy. West Point is the world's preeminent leadership academy and I am simultaneously humbled to be able to serve that mission and eager to grow and help the Black Knights continue to achieve national success."
A 1999 graduate of Cornell University, she received a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Industrial & Labor Relations, where she also earned four varsity letters in wrestling as the team manager. She earned her Master of Science degree in Leadership (2008) and a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management (2002) from Northeastern University.
Tricia graduated from the NCAA Fellows Leadership Program (2008), the NACWAA Executive Institute (2009 & 2015) and the Towson University Professional Leadership Program for Women (2017). She has also served as an adjunct faculty member at Ohio University in the Department of Sports Administration.
