Emma Richey Named Defensive Player of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Firstie captain Emma Richey was named Patriot League Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after her stellar performance in the team's opening week of the 2022 season announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.
Richey started in the Black Knights' two matches totaling 166 minutes of action. She played a critical role in Army's 1-1 draw with UConn on Thursday and in the shutout win over FDU on Sunday. Richey headed in not only her first career goal, but the game-winning goal off a corner kick in the Cadets' victory over the Knights. Against FDU, she was a part of the defensive line that held FDU to three shots in the 90-minute contest.
Kaitlin Palaian earned a spot on the Honorable Mention List at after her strong showing on the field. She started in two matches for Army recording 92 minutes of action. The junior forward scored her first goal of the 2022 season in the Black Knights' victory over FDU.
