WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point wrestling head coach Kevin Ward has added Ian Parker to the coaching staff.
"We are thrilled to add someone of Ian Parker's caliber to our coaching staff," said Ward. "He had a stellar career as a student-athlete at Iowa State and has shown he has the potential to be a world-class competitor. We couldn't be more excited he chose West Point to launch his coaching career and to continue to train and compete at the international level. His leadership and presence in the wrestling room will benefit every cadet on our roster."
Parker recently concluded a decorated career at powerhouse Iowa State competing at 141 pounds. Parker was a four-time NCAA qualifier (2019-22) becoming the 47th wrestler in program history to be a four-time qualifier. He was a Big 12 Champion in 2020 on his way to earning NCAA All-American First Team honors. He was a Big 12 141-pound runner-up in 2021 and finished fifth at the conference championship in 2022. Parker finished with a 112-39 record in his six seasons wrestling for the Cyclones. Parker, who was an NWCA Scholar All-American in 2020 and earned Second Team Academic All-Big 12 accolades in 2022, graduated with a bachelor's degree in communication studies.
Recently, Parker placed third at the 2022 U.S. Open in April and fourth at the 2022 U.S. World team trials.
