Army, Atlantic Hockey Release 2022-23 Schedule
June 28, 2022 | Hockey
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point hockey and the Atlantic Hockey Association have announced the 2022-23 slate on Tuesday.
"We are extremely excited about this year's schedule," said head coach Brian Riley. "I'm not sure when the last time we were able to play 20 regular-season games in front of our great fans at Tate Rink. The schedule will be challenging with both our league and non-league schedule games. One of the highlights will be hosting the US National Development Program Team at West Point. Many of these players will be high-end NHL draft picks and will have long careers in the NHL. Hosting our service academy rival Air Force in January is always special for our players and fans."
Army opens the season at Tate Rink hosting Union on October 2. The Black Knights begin AHA play, which is in its 20th season as a league, with a two-game set at RIT on October 7-8. Army's next two games will be non-conference games on the road against RPI (October 15) and UNH (October 21).
Army then starts a seven-game home stretch beginning with an exhibition against the United States Under-18 Team on October 23. The Black Knights host three-time defending AHA champion AIC on October 28.
Two days later, Dartmouth comes to West Point, followed by a two-game series versus Lindenwood on November 4-5. The homestand wraps up against Bentley on November 18-19. Army will head to Western New York to play Canisius on November 25-26 before returning home to face Niagara on December 2-3. The Black Knights visit Mercyhurst on December 9-10 to conclude the calendar year.
Army opens 2023 at Yale on New Year's Day and visits Sacred Heart on January 5. The Black Knights return home for a six-game home tilt starting against Providence on January 8. Army, then, welcomes Canisius for a two-game series on January 13-14, followed by one game versus AIC on January 17, and a two-game series against rival Air Force on January 27-28.
The Black Knights start February at Niagara on February 3-4 and play at Sacred Heart on February 7. Army hosts Holy Cross on February 10-11 and closes out the regular season home slate against Mercyhurst on February 17-18. Army concludes the regular season with a two-game set at Bentley on February 24-25.
The Atlantic Hockey Tournament starts with the quarterfinal round from March 3-5. The semifinal round runs from March 10-12 and the championship game on March 18.
