Dubrule Selected as Semifinalist for Brooks Wallace Award
May 23, 2022 | Baseball
LUBBOCK, Texas – Army West Point Baseball's Kevin Dubrule was one of 30 shortstops to be named a semifinalist for the Brooks Wallace Award last week.
"What a group of semifinalists," Tom Quigley, co-chair of the Brooks Wallace Award, said in a release. "Thirty shortstops from 19 different conferences are representing their universities well. Narrowing down this list for our finalists will be a tough task."
The award, as sponsored by Mizuno, honors the nation's top shortstop and is annually presented by the College Baseball Foundation. The honor is named for former Texas Tech shortstop Brooks Wallace, who died of leukemia at the age of 27.
A First Team All-Patriot League pick this season, Dubrule has been a mainstay in the Black Knights' lineup throughout his time suiting up for the Black & Gold. The Florida native is closing in on 300 career assists, thanks to a staggering 156 this year, and is fielding .982 from the middle infield.
Offensively, his batting average of .346 is second-highest on the team and he leads the Cadets in both hits (73) and doubles (17). Dubrule checks into the national rankings as well, as he currently stands as the 11th-toughest player to strike out (15.1).
The only Patriot League player to be represented among the semifinalists, Dubrule is one of just 15 shortstops to be featured from a non-Power 5 institution. To view the comprehensive list of semifinalists, click HERE.

Dubrule and the rest of the Black Knights are currently preparing for the Patriot League Championship, which is set to begin with a 1 p.m. game against Bucknell on Tuesday, May 24. Games two and three (if necessary) are scheduled for the next two days and are set for a 1 p.m. first pitch. All of the action between the top-seeded Army team and the No. 2 Bison will be carried on ESPN+.
