WINTHROP, Mass. – Senior Colin Bilek has been named a CCM/AHCA Hockey All-American, the American Hockey Coaches Association announced on Friday. Bilek becomes the first two-time All-American in Atlantic Hockey history.
Bilek was named to the East second team and is one of five repeat selections from the 2021-22 All-American teams. This is the fourth time the Army West Point hockey program has had an All-American which is the most by any school in Atlantic Hockey.
"This is a great honor, especially to be the first two-time All-American in Army and Atlantic Hockey history," head coach Brian Riley said. "Colin is an All-American on the ice, but he is also an All-American leader and person. We are extremely proud of him for what he has done for this program over the last four years."
One of the best all-around skaters in the conference, Bilek shared the Atlantic Hockey Scoring Championship with 25 points on 10 goals and 15 assists in league play. He led the conference in points with 31 at the end of the regular season as well as contributing to a top-20 penalty kill in the country. A constant scoring threat, he led the Black Knights in goals with 11, in assists with a career-high 20, and points with 31; his 145 shots were second in the league. He finished with two multi-goal games, including a hat-trick against Yale on November 12.
"This is very cool to be recognized for something like this," Bilek said. "Playing here at Army most definitely won't be defined by recognition like this, but by the boys in the room that I have had the pleasure to play with. It has been the pleasure of a lifetime putting the Army jersey on for the past four years and I am just so incredibly thankful for the opportunity and relationships I have formed by playing for this program."
Bilek, a two-time team captain, was tabbed as the 2021-22 Atlantic Hockey Association Preseason Player of the Year. Bilek was named the AHA Player of the Month in November after a seven-point month where he scored four times and recorded two assists in five games to lead the team in points and goals. The Brighton, Mich. native was named AHA Player of the Week on November 15 and February 21. Bilek was named to the 2021-22 All-Atlantic Hockey First Team. He is second on the active career points and goals lists and third on the assists list in Atlantic Hockey.
