BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After helping the Army West Point baseball team sweep its four-game series against Holy Cross, Ross Friedrick was named Player of the Week by the Patriot League on Tuesday afternoon.
Â
The junior batted .600 during the games against the Crusaders, boosting an offense that outscored its opposition 39-10. Friedrick finished the stretch with a pair of home runs, as many doubles and a team-high seven RBI. He was also perfect defensively, recording 40 putouts while tallying two assists at first base.
Â
Friedrick's performance opposite Holy Cross was highlighted by the first meeting in Monday's doubleheader, where he went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and a game-high three runs scored.
Â
The Alpharetta, Ga. native is tied with Kevin Dubrule for the team lead in multi-hit games with nine and is currently on a five-game hitting streak. This season, he is batting .340 with 10 extra-base hits and 19 RBI.
Â
Though Friedrick was the only Black Knight to earn a major weekly award, left-handed pitcher Connelly Early received an honorable mention nod from the Patriot League. In his six-inning start in the weekend series' opening matchup, he struck out five batters and gave up just one hit.
