Black Knights Battle at ECAC Championship

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. --- Mathew Davis was named Senior Gymnast of the Year at his final Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship, while Army West Point placed fourth at the championship on Saturday afternoon.
The Black Knights opened the meet on the vault, posting a stellar team score of 68.150. Jacob Nauman led the team with a score of 14.050 claiming seventh place. Connor Cavanagh followed with a score of 13.750 for Army.
On parallel bars, the Cadets recorded a team score of 67.100. Davis led the way with 13.800 for fourth place, followed by Zachary Mitchell in sixth place with 13.750. Patrick Armstrong was not far behind his teammate as he scored a 13.600.
Next was high bar where Joseph Buselmeier led Army with a score of 12.900. Kalvin Kingshill and Davis each recorded a 12.800 to help the Black Knights finish with a team score of 63.200 on the event.
Army had trouble of floor posting a team score of 62.050. Nauman and Buselmeier scored a team-best of 12.900. Kingshill was right behind his teammates scoring a 12.850.
The Black Knights had difficulty on the pommel horse scoring 58.150. Gabe Almeida led the team with 12.350 to place seventh overall, followed close behind by Mitchell who posted a 12.300.
Heading into the final event, the rings, Army sat in third place. Davis led the Black Knights with a season-best score of 14.000 to earn third place on the event. Mitchell Monahan followed with a season-high 13.400 for seventh place. The Black Knights finished with a score of 66.200 on the event.
Davis placed third in the all-around with a score of 78.400. Isaiah Drake from Navy claimed the all-around title with a score of 81.650. Army finished in fourth place with a score of 384.850. Navy claimed the title scoring 401.850, followed by Springfield in second (387.050) and William & Mary in third (385.250).
