Army Falls to Springfield

WEST POINT, NY --- Army West Point Men's Gymnastics fell behind early to Springfield College and was unable to complete the comeback falling 38-1.950-375.750 to the Pride on Saturday afternoon.
Army outscored Springfield on floor, 66.000-65.150. Mathew Davis was stellar on floor exercise for Army scoring a 13.600 to claim first place. Franco Peirano placed fourth on the event with a score of 13.300 and was followed by Jacob Nauman in fifth who scored a 13.200.
The Black Knights fell behind on pommel horse as Springfield outscored them 62.800-55.250. Davis was posted a team-high 12.550 for fourth place. Nauman claimed sixth place with a score of 11.950.
Army battled on rings but was outscored 61.200-60.950. Patrick Armstrong led the team with a score of 12.750 for first place in the event. Joesph Buselmeier followed in second place with a score of 12.700.
Springfield dominated on vault taking the top-three spots. Steven Manolakis and Nauman tied for fourth place with a score of 13.900. Peirano earned sixth place after scoring 13.850.
Zachary Mitchell was stellar on parallel bars for Army taking first place with a score of 13.200. Armstrong placed fourth on the event with a score of 12.850. Jackson Pophal scored 12.700 for fifth place. Army won parallel bars 63.650-62.550.
Davis claimed first on high bar scoring 12.900 for the Black Knights. Kalvin Kingshill captured fourth on the event with a score of 12.450. Army was unable to complete a comeback falling to Springfield 381.950-375.750.
