March 13, 2022 | Rifle
USAFA, Colo. – Claudia Sigel represented the Army West Point rifle team in smallbore at the 2022 NCAA Rifle Championships on March 11.
Sigel finished 25th out of 45 competitors in smallbore with a score of 583. Sigel, who qualified for the NCAA Championships after scoring 586 in smallbore in the NCAA qualifier match against MIT on February 19, had a stellar sling score of 397/400 going into standing.
COACH'S CORNER
"I am so proud of Claudia. She has come such a long way in just two seasons. Going from a walk-on to the NCAA Championships is testimony to the hard work and dedication she has put in. Her slings - kneeling and prone positions - were amazing. She had the highest kneeling score in the championship, beating out several Olympic medalists, then followed that up with a respectable prone score. All eyes were on her for a little while. She really did a phenomenal job. She knows what she needs to do when we get back. We'll take a little time off and then she and our other Junior Olympic qualifiers will be getting ready for that match in May." – Web Wright
