Black Knights Fall on Senior Day to Crusaders

WEST POINT, N.Y. --- Army West Point Women's Basketball celebrated the careers of six seniors on Saturday afternoon but were unable to close the day with a victory falling 73-59 to Holy Cross at Christl Arena.
Sabria Hunter was just one rebound short of her 12th double-double of the season notching nine rebounds and 12 points with two assists and one steal. Kate Murray followed with 11 points and six rebounds. Hope Brown contributed nine points, two assists and four rebounds in 20 minutes for the Black Knights.
How It Happened
Army battled in the opening minutes of the game with help from Murray who hit two consecutive three-pointers. Holy Cross jumped to a three-point lead with just over six minutes left on the clock (9-6). Army had trouble containing the Crusaders' offense as Holy Cross went on a nine-point scoring run to lead 18-6. The Black Knights tallied on five more points to cut Holy Cross's lead to nine points, trailing 22-13 at the end of the first quarter. Murray led Army with eight points going 3-of-4 from the floor.
Holy Cross's offense gave Army trouble in the second quarter as the Crusaders shot 55 percent from the floor and outscored Army 20-10 in the quarter. Hunter led the team with eight points and four rebounds. She recorded the lone assist for the Black Knights Brown scored the other two points for the Cadets.
The teams battled in the opening minutes of the quarter. Brown put together her own five-point scoring run to get Army within 15 points of the Crusaders with four minutes left. Army battled in the third quarter scoring just two less points than the Crusaders (20-22) but it wasn't enough to get the Black Knights back in the game as they trailed 64-43 at the end of the quarter. Brown led with seven points and four rebounds.
The teams were silent for the first two and a half minutes of the quarter with the first basket coming at 7:30 from Holy Cross. Army put together an 11-pointwas unable to overcome the deficit falling 73-59 to the Crusaders.
