WEST POINT, N.Y. – Kyle Kutz won the overall prone award as the Black Knights placed sixth overall in the 2022 Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) championships.

Kutz won the overall prone with a 200-17x score in the position. He won on a multiple tie-breaker with a 10.6 on his last shot. He finished 23^rd overall in smallbore. Kutz was one of five Black Knights to score over a 580 in smallbore – Kutz (582), Claudia Sigel (581), Matalyn Espenshade (580), Anusha Pakkam (580), and Briggs Moore (580).

In air rifle, Lauren McMahan led the way for Army, placing 14^th with a score of 595. Espenshade had the second-best score on the team with a personal best score of 591.

Army finished sixth with an aggregate score of 4686. The Black Knights were sixth in smallbore (2323) and in the air rifle discipline (2363).

The Black Knights were awarded the Sportsmanship Award as voted by the head coaches of the participating teams. Anusha Pakkam was Army's Scholar-Athlete of the Year recipient.

UP NEXT

Claudia Sigel will represent the Black Knights in the smallbore discipline at the NCAA Championships hosted by the US Air Force Academy from March 11-12. Sigel qualified after scoring 586 in smallbore in the NCAA qualifier match against MIT on February 19. She is one of five individuals invite to compete.
