Colin Bilek Named AHA Player of the Week
February 21, 2022 | Hockey
WINTHROP, Mass. - After four point weekend in which he scored three goals and helped lead Army to a sweep of Holy Cross, Colin Bilek was awarded the Atlantic Hockey Association's Player of the Week title. It is the third weekly honor awarded to Bilek by the conference this season, and the eighth Player of the Week nod for the team in 2021-22. Both numbers are the highest for a player and a team in the AHA this season.Â
Bilek had one of his best series this past weekend against Holy Cross, totaling four points across the two-game stretch. The senior captain opened up the series with a two-point effort in game one. The Michigan native assisted on the team's first goal before scoring the eventual game winner in the final frame to lift Army to the win. In the series finale on Friday, Bilek stepped up to score two goals, including one on the power play, to once again lead Army to the win.
The senior captain was on the ice for four of the team's five goals in the series, blocked three shots and led the team with 10 shots on goal against the Crusaders.
Bilek has now recorded 90 points in his illustrious Army career and is up to 27 total points in 2021-22, which is tied for the highest total in Atlantic Hockey.Â
Bilek and the Black Knights will close out the regular season this weekend with a home-and-home series against Sacred Heart. The team only needs one more conference point to secure home iceÂ
