Eric Butte Named Atlantic Hockey's Player of the Week
February 14, 2022 | Hockey
WEST POINT, N.Y. - For the second time this season, Army West Point hockey captain, Eric Butte, took home the Atlantic Hockey Association's Player of the Week award. Butte earned the honor after scoring the lone - and eventual game-winning - goal against the American International College Yellow Jackets on Saturday. Thanks in part to Butte's effort, Army took down the AHA's top team in a 1-0 victory.Â
Butte was last named the AHA Player of the Week on Jan. 10 after an outstanding pair of games in the series against Canisius.Â
The Massachusetts native has been on a tear in the second half of the season for the Black Knights, scoring seven times since the holiday break including four times in the past five games. Butte has put up eye-popping number on the powerplay for the Cadets, tallying eight goals on the PP this season. That total is good for the top-spot in Atlantic Hockey and third-best in the nation.Â
The senior also ranks at the top of the AHA charts in faceoffs won with 334, a total that is also good for 10th best in the country.Â
Butte, a senior system and decisions sciences major, branched field artillery and will be posting in Georgia at Fort Stewart after graduation.Â
