December 01, 2022 | Hockey
WINTHROP, Mass. - Army West Point hockey freshman Max Itagaki was named Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Month, announced today by the legaue.Â
Itagaki compiled six points in six games for the Black Knights in November, helping Army to a (3-2-1, 3-0-1 AHA) record across that span. Itagaki collected points in five of the six contests, as part of a nine-game point streak from Oct. 15 – Nov. 25. Â
A native of Glenivew, Ill., Itagaki began the month with a pair of helpers in the series against Lindenwood. He would go on to collect three more assists in Army's sweep over Bentley, each coming on the power-play. His two-assist effort in the 5-2 victory marked the second multi-point game of his career. On the road at Canisius, Itagaki scored his first collegiate goal on the man-advantage to give Army an early 1-0 lead. Â
Itagaki currently ranks third in the conference with 11 assists, while his .85 assists per game pace lands him eleventh in the nation. He also ranks fourth nationally amongst freshman with 11 assists. Army's leading points-getter through 13 games, he has been especially lethal on the power-play, which has accounted for nine of his 12 points.Â
This marks the second honor this season for the plebe, who took home Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week on November 20th following the Bentley series.Â
