Rifle Places 3rd at President’s Trophy Match

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Army West Point rifle team placed third at the President's Trophy Match in Annapolis, Md. on Saturday. The match, a service academy triangular, was made up of host Navy, Air Force and Army.
The Falcons claimed their ninth straight title in besting the field with a score of 5868 followed by Navy (5849) and Army (5785) using the service academy scoring system.
In the NCAA format, the Falcons posted a 4701, the Mids recorded a 4689 and the Black Knights fired a 4637.
Claudia Sigel was Army's leader posting a 584 in smallbore, as the top four shooters fired that same mark. The Army junior recorded a 581 air rifle score to finish ninth in the aggregate scoring behind a season-best 1165.
SMALLBORE
The Black Knights fired a smallbore team score of 2305, second highest mark this season. In addition to Sigel's 584 in that discipline, Anusha Pakkham also broke into the leader column recording a 578 to rank 10th among a field of 28.
Chris Jennings (572), Ashley Clegg (570) and Matalyn Espenshade (568) placed 15th, 16th and 17th, respectively, in rounding out Army's leaders.
AIR RIFLE
Pakkam and Ashton O'Connell were Army's leaders, each firing a 584 to place 14th and 15th followed by Jennings (583) and Sigel (581).
