ST. CHARLES, MO – Army West Point men's rugby (7-2) fell to Lindenwood by a score of 36-7 to close out the fall season.
Back on the road for a consecutive week, the Cadets faced a tough task matching up with Lindenwood. After a stalemate through the first ten minutes, the Lions hit the front with a try in the 13th minute before adding another just before the 20-minute mark as a successful conversion made the score 12-0. Army continued to get stymied with possession through the first half, with a penalty kick giving Lindenwood a 15-0 lead at the break.
Lindenwood added another seven points with a try and conversion to being the second half, before Army answered to get on the scoresheet. After Army strung together possession to get just a few meters away from the tryline, Cole Taft plowed forward to score the try for the Black Knights. Jonny Haley made good on the conversion to make the score 22-7 with 20 minutes to play.
However, the Lions were able to answer with the next score, before adding a final try to make it a 36-7 final scoreline. Army concludes its fall season with a 7-2 overall record and will look ahead to the main spring season.
