Gage Guerra Named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week
October 03, 2022 | Men's Soccer
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Army West Point men's soccer sophomore Gage Guerra has been named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, announced today by the league. Guerra scored a first-half brace against Boston University on Wednesday night, helping Army earn a point on the road.Â
It marks the second consecutive week that Guerra has earned the award, after scoring five goals across Army's first three conference games. Â
In the first half against BU, Guerra made a perfect run while Army got out in transition after clearing a Terriers' corner. Sam Epitime placed a through ball into the path of Guerra, who saw the goalkeeper coming out to challenge and scored with a chip shot to give Army the lead. Later in the half, Guerra fired home a right-footed shot into the top-right corner to tie the game at 2-2, which was ultimately the final score.Â
Guerra is up to a team-leading six goals and 14 points this season. His 1.75 points per game mark leads all Patriot League players.Â
