October 03, 2022 | Men's Soccer
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Army West Point men's soccer sophomore Gage Guerra has been named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, announced today by the league. Guerra scored a first-half brace against Boston University on Wednesday night, helping Army earn a point on the road.
It marks the second consecutive week that Guerra has earned the award, after scoring five goals across Army's first three conference games.
In the first half against BU, Guerra made a perfect run while Army got out in transition after clearing a Terriers' corner. Sam Epitime placed a through ball into the path of Guerra, who saw the goalkeeper coming out to challenge and scored with a chip shot to give Army the lead. Later in the half, Guerra fired home a right-footed shot into the top-right corner to tie the game at 2-2, which was ultimately the final score.
Guerra is up to a team-leading six goals and 14 points this season. His 1.75 points per game mark leads all Patriot League players.
