Women's Rugby Suffers First Loss to Dartmouth

HANOVER, N.H. - Army West Point women's rugby suffered its first loss of the season against Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon, 24-15. The defending NIRA-15s champion Big Green used a 19-3 halftime lead to secure the victory at home.
Matching up as two of the three undefeated NIRA teams remaining, both programs looked the part through the first twenty minutes, with end-to-end action resulting in a 0-0 scoreline. Dartmouth was able to deal the first blow of the game, scoring a try and conversion in the 23rd minute to go ahead 7-0.
The Big Green used the momentum to tack on another try in the 33rd minute, with a successful conversion making the score 14-0. Army was able to get on the scoreboard before the half, with Alissa Eisenhart knocking in a penalty kick to make it a 14-3. However, Dartmouth would add another try just before the half to boast a 19-3 lead at the break.
The Black Knights came out determined in the second half, scoring a try seven minutes in as Sophia Linder found Sydney Schaaf for her third try of the season. Dartmouth would respond with just under 20 minutes remaining, scoring a try to make the score 24-8. Army was able to score a second try of the contest in the closing minutes, with Codi Butt assisting McKhaye O'Boyle for the try. An Eisenhart conversion made it 24-15 in favor of Dartmouth, which was ultimately the final score from Hanover.
