Rucker Named Patriot League Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Sophomore guard Jalen Rucker has been named the Patriot League GEICO Men's Basketball Player of the Week announced on Monday.
Rucker averaged a team-high 21.5 points while averaging 5.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.0 steals in wins over Bucknell and Lehigh as the Black Knights improved to 3-0 in league play. In the victory over Bucknell, Rucker led Army in scoring with 21 points. He shared game-high honors in rebounds with five and assists with five as Army earned consecutive wins over Bucknell for the first time since winning four straight from 2007-09.
Rucker scored a game-high 22 points for his third straight 20-point game and fifth 20-point game this season in the win over Lehigh. He added five rebounds, dished out a game-high four assists, and had two steals. He shot 51.7 percent from the field and 83.3 percent from the free-throw line.
Rucker, who earned the weekly honors for the first time in his career, joins backcourt teammate Josh Caldwell as Black Knights who have been named player of the week this season.
The Patriot League men's basketball players of the week are selected in a vote by league media members and each school's sports information director, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.
The Black Knights, who are 3-0 in league play for the first time in eight seasons, play defending Patriot League champion Colgate on Monday at 6 p.m.
