Pereira Named to Preseason All-Patriot League Team
August 17, 2021 | Men's Soccer
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - After a breakout season as a junior, Oscar Pereira of Army West Point men's soccer has been named to the Patriot League's preseason All-League Team. Pereira, who was named to the team as a midfielder, was the team's leading scorer a season ago, finding the back of the net four times in 2020. The league's annual preseason poll, which was also announced today, had Army picked to finish 10th in the conference.
The New York native adds this honor to his All-Conference Second-Team award that he picked up for his work on the field a season ago. Pereira started all five conference games for the Black Knights, totaled five points in conference play which was good for seventh in the Patriot League. His best performance of the season came against the Midshipmen in Army-Navy Cup IX, where scored a goal and assisted on another in a convincing 2-0 shutout victory.
Pereira will look to pick up where he left off in 2020 when the Cadets take the field for their season opener opposite La Salle (Aug. 26)
