WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army West Point head hockey coach Brian Riley released the team's 2021-22 schedule, highlighted by 16 home contests and a number of renewed rivalries, on Wednesday afternoon.Â
The 33-game slate includes seven non-conference outings and 26 contests against Atlantic Hockey programs. Additionally, the Black Knights will take on three of the USCHO's top-20 programs from a year ago in Wisconsin (No. 4), AIC (No. 15) and Providence (No. 16).Â
Army will begin the 2021-22 season on the road with a battle against the Friars on Oct. 2 before returning to West Point for its home-opening conference series against RIT Oct. 8-9. After splitting up into east and west pods for the 2020-21 campaign, Atlantic Hockey teams will return to a full conference slate featuring games against all league members.
In addition to Providence College, the Black Knights' non-Atlantic Hockey opponents include the Badgers (Oct. 15-16), Princeton (Oct. 30), Yale (Nov. 12), RPI (Jan. 2) and its annual clash with the Royal Military College Paladins (Jan. 15).Â
Army's upcoming season will be additionally highlighted by a western trip for a service-academy showdown with the Air Force Falcons Jan. 28-29.Â
The regular-season portion of the schedule will wrap up with a game against Sacred Heart on Saturday, Feb. 26 at Tate Rink. Riley, who enters his 17th year at the helm, will then lead his team to the Atlantic Hockey Tournament which is set to begin in early March.
