Gibson Represents Army on Third Day at NCAA East Prelim

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jamir Gibson was the sole representative of the Army West Point track & field team on the third day of the NCAA East Region Prelim, as he competed in the discus on Friday afternoon.

Gibson's best throw came on his last attempt, a 55.70m toss that put him 13th in the 47-member field. The mark was just 0.75m off of overtaking Virginia's Jacob Lemmon for a qualifying spot that would have seen the junior join teammate August Cook (javelin) at the NCAA Championship.

The discus was the second event that Gibson competed in this week, as he additionally represented the Black Knights in Wednesday afternoon's shot put competition. On that day, Gibson recorded his own third-best performance all-time (17.85m) en route to finishing sixth in his flight.

The women's team will close things out for Army at the NCAA East Prelim tomorrow, with four different cadets set to compete. For further information regarding the meet, click HERE.
