Baseball Drops Game Two of Series to Air Force
March 06, 2021 | Baseball
KINSTON, N.C. – The Army West Point baseball team collected seven hits on the day, but it was all Air Force in game two of the series as they fell 12-1 to the Falcons on Saturday afternoon.
Tim Simoes tallied three of the Black Knights' seven hits on the day, his third-straight multi-hit game. Kevin Dubrule also had a multi-hit outing, finishing with two hits on the day. Anthony Giachin and pinch hitter Braden Golinski each had one hit on the day.
The Falcons touched up the Black Knights for runs in six of nine innings on the year. They took a 4-0 lead in the second inning and never looked back, jumping out to a 10-0 lead as they took advantage of some Army miscues as only two of the eight runs starter Robbie Buecker gave up were earned. The Black Knights took advantage of a Falcons' error to plate an unearned run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Brendan Sirani reached on the error, allowing Dubrule to come home from third for the lone run of the day for the Black Knights.
Robbie Buecker took the loss, falling to 0-2 on the year as he allowed eight runs (only two earned) on five hits in 3.1 innings of work.
Brian Dawson threw 1.2 innings, giving up two runs on three hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Freshman Carson Smith made his Army debut and put up a zero in the sixth inning, striking out one and walking one. Tyler Pritchard closed things out for the Black Knights as he threw the final three innings of work. He allowed two runs (both earned) on four hits with three strikeouts.
