WEST POINT, N.Y. – Kyle Kutz and Clayton Hanson of the Army West Point rifle team each earned Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) All-America honors. Kutz was tabbed a second team all-American in smallbore, while Hanson earned honorable mention all-America nods in air rifle.
In his freshman season, Kutz finished fourth at the NCAA Championships in smallbore after shooting a 590, which is one point shy of tying Army's all-time program record. The Darien, Conn., native shot above the 580 threshold in all but one match. On the season he posted an average score of 585.4.
This marks the second consecutive year that Hanson was named a CRCA All-American. The Jamestown, N.Y., native hit the 590-mark in all but one match this season. He held an average of 592 in air rifle. Hanson posted a 594 at the Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) Championships, which was good for ninth place.
