February 06, 2021 | Wrestling
BETHLEHEM, PA – In their 69th overall meeting, the Army West Point wrestling team and the Lehigh Mountain Hawks squared off in a battle for points. Despite making a comeback from a 9-0 deficit, Lehigh was able to secure victories in the final two bouts for an 18-16 win.
After tough losses in the 125 and 133 slot, Lane Peters turned the tides for the Black Knights in a 4-2 decision over Connor McGonagle. Peters set the pace for P.J. Ogunsanya and Markus Hartman to follow suit, each nailing victories for a three-match streak and tying the score at nine.

Coach Ward's Thoughts: "We feel like we let this one slip away. We were in position to knock off a pretty good team but we just didn't do enough to go and take it from them. A few matches we had them on the ropes and just didn't score as many points as I felt like we could have. I think up and down the lineup our guys fought hard and we can learn a lot from this match. It's knowing that you walked off the mat with a little left in the tank that stings but our guys can learn that even though we competed incredibly hard, they still have more to give. And from this point in it's going to take everything we've got."
Up Next: Army will return home Friday for their final dual match of the year against conference rival Navy. The Black Knights and the Midshipmen will faceoff at 6 p.m. in Christl Arena.
