Cadets Place Third in Smallbore at GARCs

WEST POINT, N.Y. -- The Army West Point rifle team took third place in smallbore with a score of 2330 in the opening day of the Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) Championship. With competition being virtual, Army shot inside the Tronsrue Marksmanship Center.
The Cadets were eight points shy of second place Kentucky and finished with three more than fourth place Memphis.
Freshman Kyle Kutz, who recent individually qualified in smallbore for the NCAA Championships in March, finished in fifth place with a score of 588. The mark was one shy of his career high.
Army's next highest finisher was senior Kaitlyn Kutz, who shot a 584. Freshman Anunsha Pakkam had the Cadets' next best tally at 580. Senior Clayton Hanson rounded out the scoring with a 578. Additionally, Claudia Sigel shot a season-high mark of 578.
The Black Knights will compete in the air rifle portion of the championship on Sunday beginning at 9 a.m.
