CARY, N.C. – Army West Point baseball defeated Austin Peay, 2-1 on Friday afternoon at the USA Baseball Complex's Coleman Field.

The Black Knights (1-3) walked off Austin Peay (0-4), as the manufactured the eventual game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Starter Anthony Loricco tossed 6.0 complete innings, allowing one run on just four hits with one walk and nine strikeouts.

The Black Knights offense garnered only three hits on the day but managed to push across the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth with Sam Ruta delivering the sac fly to bring home Carter Macias as the game-winning run. Macias started off the inning with a walk and then Anthony Giacin delivered the sac bunt to advance the go-ahead runner to second. After Jeremiah Adams was intentionally walked, Cade Cerruto reached on a fielder's choice as Macias took third, setting Ruta up for the go-ahead sac fly.

Austin Peay took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning, but the Black Knights tied things up in the bottom of the seventh inning as Adams delivered the RBI single off Austin Peay starter Harley Gollert, who tossed 7.1 innings, allowing one run on three hits with no walks and six strikeouts.

Trevor Finan entered in relief of Loricco in the seventh and threw two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit as he struck out two.

Harry Flannery earned the win for the Black Knights as he tossed a 1-2-3 top of the ninth inning.

Austin Peay reliever Sebastian Martinez took the loss.
