Women's Tennis Sweeps UCONN, 7-0

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's tennis team finished off their second shutout of the weekend as they took care of business vs. UCONN, 7-0, on Sunday at Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
The Black Knights now sit at 2-2 on the season, bouncing back from losing their first two competitions of the year to go 2-0 this weekend at home.
Army opened things up with a dominant performance in doubles play for the second-straight day. The Black Knights won all three competitions by a score of 6-2. Joyner/Dimaio played at No. 1 and took care of business vs. Hoppe/Lai. Bou/McKenzie defeated Karamyshev/Cook, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles and Vincent/Gilbert defeated Kozyi/Takunyaci at No. 3, 6-2.
The Black Knights led 1-0 after winning the doubles point and did not let off the gas in singles competition, taking all six singles competitions. Joyner defeated Leonie Hoppe, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, while Vincent defeated Denise Lai, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2. Bou took care of business at No. 3 singles with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Caroline Cook. Dimaio defeated Doga Selen Takunyaci, 6-1, 62 at No. 4 and Dondanav defeated Elizabeth Kozyi, 6-3, 7-5 at No. 5. Ahn, who competed at No. 5 singles on Saturday, won at No. 6 as she defeated Alek Karamyshev, 6-1, 6-1.
The Black Knights are set to host Drexel in their next match on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 10 a.m. ET.
