Beatty Selected To Academic All-Patriot League Team
November 08, 2021 | Men's Cross Country
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior Marshall Beatty was named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team announced on Monday. Beatty, the reigning scholar-athlete of the year, makes the all-academic team for the second straight season.
Beatty had another outstanding regular season while captaining the Black Knights. He won his second consecutive Patriot League Championship Individual crown to become the 10th runner to win consecutive titles in league history. Beatty holds a 3.659 cumulative GPA while majoring in philosophy and is a six-time Dean's List honoree.
"Marshall has been a quiet leader in our program since he arrived," said head coach Mike Smith. "He has been a winning force both within the Patriot League and in the Army-Navy Star competition. Since assuming the role of team captain, he has set a very high bar for our men's team and has lived up to that standard in all that he does. He is one of the fiercest competitors that I have ever been around and has an extraordinary capacity to will himself beyond normal limits of endurance. He is a great representative of our program and the Academy."
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key player in his sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
