WEST POINT, N.Y. --- Army West Point Black Knights closed out the regular season with a dominant 30-10 win over Penn State on Saturday afternoon at the Anderson Rugby Complex.
Army's offense had a slow start, coming alive in the second half scoring four tries. Kahala Bandmann led the Black Knights with two tries.
How It happened
The teams were evenly match from the start of match. Penn State got on the board first with a penalty kick to lead Army 3-0 at the 24th minute of the first half. Army bounced back quickly as Kaitlyn Schwarting broke through to pass off the Syndey Shaaf to cross the try line for Army.
With less than three minutes left in the first half, Charisma Henry took off for Army breaking through tackles to set Sophia Linder with the opportunity to score a try for the Black Knights. At the end of the first half Army led 10-3 over Penn State.
In the second half, Army came alive. Julia Riekena got it started by picking off the back of a scrum and passing it off to Schwarting who sprinted to across the try line. Shortly after, Henry powered her way through Penn State to score another Army try, making the score 20-3 in Army's favor.
Bandmann put more points on the board for Army in the 19th minute of the second half to up Army's lead to 25-3. Penn State fought back scoring a try and conversion of its own to cut Army's lead to 25-10. Bandmann made another run for the Cadets pushing through the try line in the sixth minute, making the final score 30-10.
