Gavin Abric Earns AHA Goalie of the Week Award
November 22, 2021 | Hockey
WINTHROP, Mass. - Army West Point hockey goaltender, Gavin Abric added another accolade to his resume this week as he was named the Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the week after saving 58 of 62 shots faced against Niagara this weekend. The sophomore netminder led Army to a 1-0-1 record in two games against the Niagara Purple Eagles. Abric has been a key piece of the current Army five-game unbeaten streak, posting a .951 save percentage while allowing only eight goals throughout the run.Â
The 58-save effort was the fifth highest total for a goalie in an AHA series this season. The weekend saves total gives him three of the top five series save performances in the conference in 2021-22. Abric is 4-0-1 in his past five starts and remains the AHA leader in GAA (1.87) and save percentage (.944). This is his first Atlantic Hockey weekly honor this season. Additionally, Abric's save percentage and GAA numbers rank him fourth and 11th nationally.Â
