WEST POINT, N.Y. – Fueled by a first-half run, the Black Knights put in a dominating performance en route to a 74-51 victory over the Merrimack Warriors on Wednesday night.
GAME SUMMARY
Army led for 92.8 percent, and by as much as 31 points, in a contest that saw the Black Knights reeled off numerous runs. Merrimack scored the game's first points and had its last lead of the game at 4-2 at the 18:21 mark in the first half.
The contest was knotted at 9-9 before the Black Knights outscored the Warriors 30-11 for the rest of the first half. Army connected on 8 of 16 shots from the field, including 4 of 6 three-pointers while also going 4-for-4 from the free-throw line and forcing three steals during the stretch.
A basket by Matt Dove started a 7-0 run for a 16-9 lead with 12 minutes remaining. Jalen Rucker, TJ Small, and Josh Caldwell all made 3-pointers as the lead ballooned to 31-16 with six minutes left. Army concluded the half on an 8-2 run which turned into a 14-2 outburst after Jared Cross and Rucker made 3-pointers to open the second half.
The Black Knights' lead continued to blossom with runs throughout the second half. A layup by Charlie Peterson pushed the lead to 69-38 with 4:20 left for the largest advantage of the game.

CADETS CAPSULES
- Josh Caldwell scored a game-high 14 points, shared game-high honors in rebounds with seven, dished out four assists, and added one steal and a block.
- Charlie Peterson finished with 13 points, including a game-high 10 points in the first half, on 6 of 8 shooting. He also grabbed six rebounds.
- Jared Cross scored 11 points to tie a career-high. He also chipped in five rebounds.
- Aaron Duhart had a game-high five assists.
- Jalen Rucker scored eight points, grabbed seven rebounds, and had four assists.
- TJ Small scored nine points in 18 minutes.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Army improved to 2-0 at home this season with an average margin of victory of 27 points.
- Army had a season-high 51 rebounds on its way to a 51-22 advantage. 11 Cadets had at least one rebound with six having at least five caroms.
- The Black Knights tied a season-high in steals with nine.
