November 15, 2021 | Women's Tennis
WEST POINT, N.Y. - Head Coach Paul Peck and his Army West Point women's tennis team has announced its Spring season schedule. The exciting slate features 33 matchups - including 18 matches at home - and is highlighted by trips to Chicago, Florida and Hawai'i. After a successful Fall tournament season, the Black Knights are ready to begin their pursuit of another Patriot League Championship when they begin play on January 15.
The team will split up to start the season with two groups traveling to road matchups at Dartmouth or Syracuse (Jan.15) and DePaul and Bradley or Rutgers (Jan. 22-23).
Army will open up its home schedule with a trio of matches against Seton Hall (Jan. 28), Binghamton (Jan. 29) and Sacred Heart (Jan. 29). Those matches begin a string of eight straight at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center. The Black Knights will welcome Stony Brook (Feb. 4), St. Bonaventure (Feb. 5), Massachusetts (Feb. 5), Drexel (Feb. 12) and Georgetown (Feb. 12) to the banks of the Hudson in consecutive weekends.
Army women's tennis will then make its way South to Florida where it will play a pair of matches against Rollins (Feb. 18) and Air Force (Feb. 19). The service-academy clash against the Falcons will be hosted at the USTA Campus in Florida.
Another trio of home matches will take place on the weekend of Feb. 25-26 against NJIT, Marist and Quinnipiac, respectively, before the Black Knights hit the road once again.
Army will head to the Hawaiian islands for Spring break for three matches against Long Beach State (Mar. 7), Hawai'i Pacific (Mar. 8) and Hawai'i (Mar. 10).
Two more nonconference matchups with Monmouth (Mar. 19) and Cornell (Mar. 19) precede the start of Patriot League play on March 25th when Lafayette and Holy Cross come to the banks of the Hudson. Army will head to Storrs, Conn. for a matchup with the Connecticut Huskies the day after.
The Star Match against the Navy Midshipmen is slated to take place on Apr. 2 in Annapolis, Md. Army will take on Loyola Maryland (Apr. 3) one day later before heading home for another pair of Patriot League matchups with Lehigh (Apr. 8) and Boston University (Apr. 10).
Senior day is slated for Apr. 13 when the Black Knights welcome Vassar College to West Point.
The final trip of the season will be to Lewisburg, Pa. to take on the Bucknell Bison (Apr. 16).
At the conclusion of the regular season, the top teams in the Patriot League will head to Bethlehem, Pa. for the 2022 Patriot League Women's Tennis Championships.
