Giachin, Hurtubise Named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans

AUSTIN, Texas - The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday that Army West Point junior Anthony Giachin and senior Jacob Hurtubise have been named to the 2020 Academic All-America® Division I baseball team.
Giachin was announced as one of 11 First Team members and was one of five players in the country to receive Academic All-America® honors for the second consecutive season. The Livingston, N.J., native majors in mechanical engineering and carries a 3.97 GPA. He closed out the shortened 2020 campaign with a .308 batting average, hitting .400 over the team's final ten games. He has been no stranger to national accolades in 2020, as he was named a Preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball. Giachin becomes just the third Black Knight to receive First Team honors since 1976, joining Matt Ball (2018) and Jacob Price (2012).
It marks the first Academic All-America® honor for Hurtubise, capping off a historic career for the Zionsville, Ill., native. The operations research major was named to the Second Team, graduating from the Academy as a 2nd Lieutenant with a 3.70 GPA. Hurtubise was named Patriot League Preseason Player of the Year prior to the 2020 season, he graduates as the Army and Patriot League all-time leader in both stolen bases (105) and walks (142).
