Black Knights Post Highest Score Since 2016

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point gymnastics team lit up the scoreboard on Saturday, posting its highest team score since the 2017 rule change in a 408.650-397.850 win over William & Mary.Â

The Black Knights posted season-bests in four out of six apparatuses, winning their second consecutive dual meet.Â

Mathew Davis posted career-highs on rings (14.300) and horizontal bar (14.100). Matt Martin added the top score in any event on the day, setting a new career mark on pommel horse with a 14.650. All five Cadets who competed on still rings set new career-best marks on the apparatus. Four of the five competitors on pommel also set career-highs.Â

Army will celebrate senior day next weekend when the team hosts Springfield and Temple at Gross Center. The team will honor its six seniors with a presentation at the meet.Â

- Army's 408.650 score is the program's best since the NCAA scoring change after the 2016 season. The total beats the previous mark of 405.85 against Navy in 2017.Â
- Mathew Davis continues to set career-highs on a weekly basis, this time doing son on rings and horizontal bar.Â
- Matt Martin posted a career-high on pommel for the second time this season, this time clearing his previous mark by .450 points.Â
- Jacob Nauman added yet another 14+ score on vault, doing so for the fifth time in his freshman campaign.Â
- Davis, Martin, Mitchell Monahan, Kiernan Reagan and Darrel Yamamura all set career-highs on still rings.Â
